The Mediterranean style in design is characterized by simple and romantic aesthetics of Southern European countries: light and warm tones in color scheme, as well as the extensive use of natural materials such as ceramics, wood, wrought iron and cotton. Design combines boldness, simplicity and convenience. Therefore, it could be used in both house or apartment design. If you want to fill your dwelling with the sunny romance of Spain, the abundance of warm colors of Italy, the marine freshness of Greece and the spices of Morocco, the decoration in Mediterranean style will surely become the embodiment of all the above.

Hellenic Cultural center of NYC
This Great vision came from New Bishop's team of Orthodox Church of America . This is the architectural designs for the new Hellenic Cultural Center in Astoria NY
Hellenic Cultural Center of Orthodox Church is a multifunctional building, with 6 stories plus one level of basement, that provides leisure facilities, working spaces and housing areas. The building contains a 3-stories amphitheater, which has a capacity of 360 seats, an exhibition area, where digital art and performances can take place, and an event hall which is connected with a small chapel in order to stage ceremonies, events and conferences. The large atrium area and the roof garden contain a large lounge area with comfortable furniture, chairs and tables, areas with trees, two bars and a restaurant, which can support all the events. In addition, the basement can provide enough space for workshops, labs, storages, backstage areas, fitting rooms and a cloakroom. There is also an apartment of two bedrooms ready to accommodate the safety guard and his family. The 6th floor consists of a 150 s.m. apartment with two bedrooms, a balcony and a patio separating master bedroom from living and dining room. Each floor has at least one office and on the first floor there is also a smoking area. Physical lighting and ventilation are major designing principles. The building is providing a challenging combination between european modern and nowadays organic architecture. Minimal and industrial feel and look make a dialogue with geometrical features and luxury materials, such as marble. Concrete, wood and stone are the principal materials. The raw materials, the steel structure, the glass, the double skin facade and the digital projection are welcoming visitors to a new cultural center where multiple cultures, past, present and future can coexist. |

S&W Artisanal

Asheville NC year 2018
Asheville's historic S&W Cafeteria building is in the midst of an effort to restore it to its former status as a convivial center of community dining.S&W Artisanal, slated for a December opening, will convene a warren of dining and drinking areas, each with a Greek-influenced menu and each with its own feel within the walls of the ornate art deco building. Those walls are being painted and layered in some places with real gold leaf. In other places, the decor is relatively untouched, save for a buffing here and there. The stone steps that descend to the main floor, for example, still bear a gentle dip in the middle from the passage of feet over the better part of a century. The mezzanine bar, with its spectacular windows, has been reduced in length to allow guests sitting at the upstairs fine-dining restaurant to drink in more of the view.MORE: The historic S&W Cafeteria building is getting a restaurant, bar and marketMeanwhile, in an adjoining space that once served as the home for Sadie's Seafood Pub, crystals were hung in new chandeliers Thursday in preparation for The Times, one of two bars that will serve S&W patrons, and the first stage of the project slated to open.Behind S&W Artisanal is restaurant designer Theodore Kondylis, restaurateur Sakis Elefantis and local businessmen Douglas and Kenneth Ellington, the great-nephews of the architect Douglas Ellington, who designed the S&W building in 1929.The elder Ellington also designed Asheville City Hall, First Baptist Church downtown, the main building at Asheville High School, the Merrimon Avenue Fire Station and others. With so many of Ellington's buildings in public use, his grand-nephews said the S&W building was the only one they could bring back to the family.

AMARANTHINE BISTRO
Miami Shores year 2018
Amaranthine makes a strong case for heading to sleepy Miami Shores for dinner. The modern bistro serves exceptional Mediterranean fare in a charming space that doesn’t play up its Greekness for attention, opting instead for subtle design elements like traditional straw baskets and Grecian table runners overhead to adorn its expansive bar. |
THE TIMES BAR
year 2018
ASHEVILLE - The results of the grand project underway at the historic S&W Cafeteria Building are beginning to emerge. As the snow fell Friday on Asheville, The S&W Artisanal’s new '20s-style bar, The Times at S&W, prepared for its first night of business. The remainder of S&W Artisanal is slated to open later this month. It will include an upscale restaurant, a casual dining spot, a bakery, a coffee bar and an authentic Greek market. The Times, just left of the S&W's front entrance, is the first part of the restaurant to open, though a music club called Ellington Underground is already thriving in the historic building's basement. With crystal chandeliers and gold leaf on the walls, The Times is meant to evoke the era in which the circa-1929 S&W Cafeteria Building was designed.
